Spikes in blood sugar can take a toll on memory by affecting the dentate gyrus, an area of the brain within the hippocampus that helps form memories, a new study reports.

Researchers said the effects can be seen even when levels of blood sugar, or glucose, are only moderately elevated, a finding that may help explain normal age-related cognitive decline, since glucose regulation worsens with age.

Other research suggests that physical exercise can offset the effects.

Fish oil

I've discovered fish oil pills help.

But I have to remember to take them.

Heh,

The Omega-3 acids in fish oil are generally good for the heart. Make you shit like a champion too.
I tried wearing a fish around my neck so I wouldn't forget, but the cats and Catholics in the neighborhood followed me everywhere.

I don't recommend it.

I had a problem with aftertaste when I first started taking Omega-3 caps. My doctor recommended freezing them. He says that way they dissolve in the small intestine instead of the stomach and they won't 'come back on you'. It also helps if you get the coated variety.
