Sean Braisted:

Just got off the phone with Sen. Berke, and he is exploring the possibility of running for Governor, and going through the logistics to see if a run is feasible.

With McMillan, that makes two definite maybes. Still waiting for Lincoln Davis to weigh in.

Not going to report on the Repub's that might be running? I guess that would be too fair of you now wouldn't it?

I know that a very prominant Knoxville attorney is exploring the race on the Dem side. Unlike Andy or Kim, he would be able to self-finance the race, although his plan is to raise enough cash to be able to compete in a primary and save his own money for Haslam. He was invited to Haslam's "heavy-hitters" meeting Thursday morning, but declined. I believe Doug Horne is also weighing a race.

Doug Horne was the other mention I was trying to remember.

Who's the attorney? Don Bosch? Sid Gilreath?

Not Don or Sid. Both of those guys are rock solid Dems, but Don's too busy with his own practice and Sid's influence and interest has always been behind the scenes. No, the guy I'm talking about won't come out for a little while (doesn't need to) and I'm sworn to silence until he gives it a "go". Once that happens, I'll give you the scoop. Doug is a great guy and has told folks, me included, that he'd put his own cash into the race. I met with Kim in late August and she is very intelligent and charismatic. I've also met Andy Berke and he is of a different . . . ilk. Very bright. I just doubt that he (or Kim) could raise enough cash to give Haslam a hard fight.
