Did she say anything about
Did she say anything about hiking the Appy Trail or going to Argentina?

Sarah Palin quits
She took an oath of office to be the Gov of Alaska; and she quit before her term was up.
You do not quit a position like that, where you have taken a solemn oath; unless of course there are dire extenuatingf circumstances.
If somethinh should happen in Alaska before the ned of her term, who is best qualified to handle the job. If it is indeed her Lieutenant Gov, she should have stepped down before today.
It looks to me like she quit to further her own PERSONAL golas and to heck with her oath of office or the people of Alaska.
NOW she has lost all credibility with me. I am waiting for the other shoe to drop that gives her realreasoning that she quita job before it was complete.
She sounded like she was
She sounded like she was just about to break down to me.
My guess is that the ongoing ethics probes in Alaska are about to discover something particularly unpalatable. I can't believe this woman would just walk away from power.
Republican strategist Mary
Republican strategist Mary Matalin just told CNN that this was a 'brilliant move'.
Brilliant move and Sarah Palin in the same sentence.
Back in 1876 George Armstrong Custer's worst fear was that all those Indians would escape his clutches thus triggering his 'brilliant move'.

Pat Buchanon said the same
Pat Buchanon said the same thing. Consider the source.
Either way it works for her
Either way it works for her opponents.
"She couldn't cut it as governmor," or "She put personal ambition over the obligations of her job that she, at one time, promised to voters she would fulfill."
She'll probably cross over to the talk show side, where all you have to do is tell people what you would do, instead of demonstrating that you can actually do something.
She's obviously looking for something that will give her more opportunity to talk with less responsibility.
I have a feeling that, except for the core, her gig will get real old, real fast with Americans.
The dogmas of the quiet past, are inadequate to the stormy present.
President Abraham Lincoln 1862
WTF?!
I read somewhere recently, can't remember where, that there was surprise she hadn't already migrated over to the infotainment world. I didn't see why anyone would think that. This is quite a surprise to me. I'm having a rare second beer.
Republican strategist Mary Matalin just told CNN that this was a 'brilliant move'.
I wonder what her Ragin' Cagin' hubby thinks.
Even though I never viewed
Even though I never viewed Palin as really a "brain" among the Republicans, in the way that a Gingrich or a Cheney arguably are, I still realized she's no dummy either. She simply seemed to me a reasonably competent politician who could hold her own with most of those in Washington while not having a particularly distinctive or individually developed point of view. This seemed (to me) to contrast with the more developed outlook of a Gingrich or a Moynihan or a Stevenson or a Buckley.
Palin's resignation today underscores strongly something that obtains in politics today: The newest kid on the block always gets the most torn apart because the concentration-span-deprived media -- and I include the Web blogosphere and various disreputable fora -- is always in haste to "sex up" anyone who "needs" defining. And the less well-known the object, the more it "needs" defining, and the more unscrupulous the "defining". It's no coincidence that during the campaign the ones most frequently targeted with absurd viral claims on the Web were Barack Obama and Sarah Palin. They were the newest kids on the block, so they naturally got targeted the most. Disgusting, but inevitable.
Obviously, these two are human beings and you can't believe that absurdities like this don't take a toll. It plainly did in Obama's case (it's startling how much older Obama looks today when you compare photos of him at the start of his campaign) and it appears that Palin now has gotten affected by it as well. Hence her resignation as Governor. I hope there comes a point when Palin can say "Screw you" and can laugh off all the nonsense the way Obama -- eventually -- did. That would be healthy for this country. I'm frankly sorry she's not there yet.
There's a reason why the latest survey at a Republican fund-raiser ended up with Gingrich and Cheney on top (the only reason why I set Limbaugh aside, even though he also scored well, is because he's a celebrity and there's name recognition in the mix, whereas Gingrich and Cheney are/have been public officials). That reason -- bluntly put -- is because the trauma of '08 has suddenly placed brains as being "in" and sound bites -- viral, libelous and otherwise -- as "out". Thus, one doesn't have to look far to see that the Gingrich/Cheney blowout at the fund-raiser was a function of their intelligence compared to most others in the survey. Intelligence is suddenly "in". Something the media, even in their intense coverage of the fund-raiser survey, utterly overlooked. Even those few who still do not view Obama as intelligent recognize his adeptness at presenting an image of intelligence. This is one reason why Obama won in '08 -- and it's the chief reason why I hope to see Palin develop the intestinal fortitude to thumb her nose at the nonsense thrown her way too. It would be the final triumph of the importance of substance over sound-bite and slur.
Right now, Palin's collapse may signify the death throes of the erstwhile power of cheap shots, slurs and sound-bites over substance. So if Palin rouses herself, turns around and suddenly starts scoffing at and ultimately ignoring the viral, libelous universe of the slur and the sound-bite altogether, that will be the triumphant dance over its grave for this generation.
And not a moment too soon.
sarah Palin
I hope she is not going to take her bat and ball and go home. For someone to just quit is being a baby. I was brought up that if you join or go out for something, that you were expected to finish and quiting was no option. I guess times have changed.
I hope she doesn't run for
I hope she doesn't run for Prez again. She has been maligned and abused so much that it would not be viable for her to run whether or not she is fit for the office (as Obama is not - but he won anyway, will wonders never cease!)
Maybe her family needs her attention more than she is able to provide and also serve as governor - who knows?
But, again I hope she doesn't run for President because I think it would be flogging a dead horse and counterproductive to the Republican Party (whoever they are these days?). I certainly hope we can drum up someone who is smart and likeable and not involved in some scandal or other who will be able to lead us into protecting our country as it needs, more than ever today, to be protected. The Dems are trying to ruin us and I can't figure out why. Must mean big bucks for them and a power position thrown in with it all. Doesn't matter that the country fails and goes into decline as long as those ***@@!!! survive (in their estimation).
Ruin us?
You must have missed the Bush Administration.
Good riddance to bad
Good riddance to bad rubbish. Maybe Sarah and/or her husbands membership in the AIP (Alaskan Independent Party , a fringe group that advocates the secession from the United State of America has finally caught up with her desire to become POTUS.
Kleinheider nailed it...
Except that I think this is what she has been all along. It's just exposed now. Well earned, Mrs. Palin. It seems the "Bridge to Nowhere" has a plank at the end of it...

I liked this part "Sarah
I liked this part "Sarah Palin doesn’t care about statecraft or making government smaller and/or more efficient. She just wants to be the IT girl."
Yup.
THANK YOU SARAH!
AND THANK GOD AND GREYHOUND YOU'RE GONE.
You have to say this about
You have to say this about Palin: She was given an impossible task by Republican Party leaders when she was picked for VP.
Then when that strategy wasn't working, she was savaged by some of the same people who had pushed for her being chosen, when in fact, the responsibility for the loss in the Presidential election of 2008 went way beyond her and McCain.
When she was chosen, she was their last great hope, and when it didn't work, she became their scapegoat, when the problem was with the powers-that-be within the party all along.

President Abraham Lincoln 1862
For whatever reasons, she is
For whatever reasons, she is resigning on her own initiative.
Too bad other public servants can't follow her lead, like Sanford and Lockett.
Although...Sanford would probably really like to follow her "lead," so to speak.
The dogmas of the quiet past, are inadequate to the stormy present.
President Abraham Lincoln 1862
Cooking with Sarah Palin?
I can see her with a morning Fox talk show doing a Martha Stewart kind of thing. Talking to some Hollywood stars, cooking up some moose burgers with Rachael Ray, making some kid crafts with someone, talking a little politics with a candidate or official (trying to put someone else on the 'hot seat').... Lots of hype leading up to the big premiere with perhaps a glimpse of her new look (surely a complete make-over would be done). The logo would be a face shot of her with the "wink".
Or maybe she will be a new face on The View!
I just cannot see her buckling down to learn all that she needs to run for president in 2012, much less be a president.
If faced with megabucks for a glamorous show versus lots of cramming, I see her going for the money.
Only One Question
How long until the indictments are released?
Must be very soon.
The only possible explanation for this hurried up presser and announcement.
"If ignorance is bliss, why aren't more people happy?"
This wasn't hurried. It was
This wasn't hurried. It was done on a Friday afternoon before a holiday at a time when the US is distracted with celebrity funerals. It took place when SNL, Daily Show and Colbert report were all on hiatus. They want this to go unnoticed.
Well
I disagree and for many reasons which are not worth debating since it is a minor point.
And if it was carefully planned as you say and for the reasons you state (which make sense BTW), all I can say to Sarah and her plans is:
EPIC FAIL!
"If ignorance is bliss, why aren't more people happy?"
Nah no indictments...
no secret trouble that's about to be disclosed...
She thinks she can be a populist...galvanize the right wing..she'll have Fox and Rush Limbaugh behind her so she can get the repub nomination anyway....
Then she hopes the economy stays bad....maybe North Korea or Afghanistan go south and badly and then she can win the Presidency...
Much like Reagen did..I think she feels she is akin to Reagen as opposed to Nixon who the pundits are comparing her to...
So she'll run....
Iceberg scandal
I bet its about this:

You can't argue with that
You can't argue with that logic. Not because it's logical, but because you can't win an argument with anyone who thinks that way.
