As some of y'all might know, my excellent son-in-law Tim Schafer is a video game designer/developer (or whatever the hell they're called). He's got a new and long-awaited game coming out this Rocktober and is promoting it like crazy. He'll be on late-night TeeVee Friday and anybody who likes video games and is good at staying up really, really late would probably enjoy watching him because he's very very funny. And nice. He's already promised not to send me to a home (but I had to promise to make pie).

Kewel

I know somebody who knows somebody who's gonna be famous! Way kewel, Beaner.

(I wouldn't worry to much about him puttin' you in a home, either. I'd guess you can take him, now or in thirty years, and he probably knows it, too.)

Someone oughta smack Matt

Someone oughta smack Matt Brooker for not having anything better to say about Psychonauts than to talk about its "mediocre sales success".

EDIT: Especially when other bloggers on the same site have at least cited other sites citing Schafer's interest in seeing a sequel made, fan interest in same, etc.

Action-Adventure with RPG elements

There also appears to be RTS aspects in the multiplayer modes, but overall, think Crash Bandicoot meets Guitar Hero with a little Jax and Daxter thrown in.

I don't know if it'll top Grim Fandango (not much can, in my opinion), but it looks like it's worth buying just for the soundtrack alone.

I'm not surprised...

...Schafer's one of the better game designers out there. The only reason Psychonauts had such a mediocre sales run was because it was woefully underpromoted - anything the guy touches turns to gold. Look at The Secret of Monkey Island. That game would have been GARBAGE without Schafer's writing.

hmm

But does he know Kevin Bacon? :-)

Congrats to your son-in-law,

Congrats to your son-in-law, Bean! He sounds like a great guy.

I probably won't catch him on tee vee tho. I'll be too busy with all that unimportant stuff I like to do. :)

I know, dead thread, but...

...this was simply too funny to pass up. Ms. Bean, this is how firmly in control Tim is of his army of gamers:

The sad part is, they're probably right.

Prime time advertising

I have been seeing slick ads for this game during the evening prime time viewing on regular network television. It would have gone unnoticed except for Betty's connection... Must be going after that Christmas gift market.
