Jordan Thomas of Chattanooga lost both his legs in a 2005 boating accident. Although his family is well off and could afford prosthetic limbs, he met others struggling to pay for them, especially children who outgrow them.

He started the Jordan Thomas Foundation that has raised over $400,000 to help. He is also working with the Amputee Coalition of America to advocate for health care reforms that would require insurance companies to provide adequate coverage.

Jordan has been recognized as a CNN Hero and you can read his story here. CNN is inviting people to vote for Hero of the Year, to be announced on an upcoming Thanksgiving Day special report about the CNN Heroes.
