Alrighty then. Apparently there is big business in selling frozen mice over the internet to people who own snakes. Anytime there is big business there is likely to be a product recall.

The company [MiceDirect] announced this week that it was recalling millions of frozen mice and that it would begin irradiating future shipments to kill infectious bacteria. MiceDirect also recalled frozen rats and baby chickens used as pet food by reptile fanciers, although those products had not been linked to the salmonella outbreaks.

Some guy in Iowa bought 10,500 of the mice to feed to his "couple of hundred" garter snakes held in captivity. He didn't know mice could carry salmonella.

10,500 mice?!?! How large a freezer does that require?

The CDC recommends you not use your microwave oven to thaw the mice, nor should the mice be in your kitchen or stored in the same freezer your store human food. Duh!
