Reports are circulating that Bill Clinton is coming to Tennessee to campaign for Mike McWherter. (See here and here. And RoaneViews.)

Clinton appeared at last year's TNDP Jackson Day Dinner as a personal favor to Ned Ray McWherter. That's some pretty serious pull. Haslam may have the big bucks and Tom Ingram, but McWherter's got the Big Dog. And Ned Ray.

McWherter's pull

Ned Ray's got pull, no doubt about it.

But Bill has the experience, the track record and the values of more Tenneseans. My money is still on Haslam. All the way.

Probably so, but let's see...

Ned Ray McWherter. Don Sundquist. Phil Bredesen.

George H.W. Bush. Bill Clinton. George W. Bush.

Need we say more?

My question is does BC know

My question is does BC know about MW's stand against unions and his strange, for a Democrat, stand on the mosque in Rutherford County -- not to mention MW's take on immigration and the teaching of intelligent design. Need I go on? BC needs to sit MW down and have a come to Jesus meeting with him about what it means to be a Democrat and run a hard campaign. BC knows one or two things about it, both on the state and national level. MW is running a race designed to lose. He can still turn it around, but he's going to have to do somethings different. BC can tell him what to do; he can get the right people in to help him do it. MW needs to listen.

Somehow there were quite a few things BC did that Democrats didn't like but the voted for him anyway.

Aside from his first race --

Aside from his first race -- for congress in Arkansas in the 70s -- BC never had poll numbers like McWherter has right now. I'm not yet prepared to say that I won't vote for McWherter, but he has yet to make me enthusiastic about the prospect. I want to be enthusiastic when I cast a vote. MW is running like he's trying to get mad Republicans to vote for him, not like he's trying to get enthusiastic voters to campaign for him and to get others to jump in line to cast a ballot for him.

Yes. Sadly, as we have seen time and again, Tennessee voters will vote for the Real Republican every time v. the fake Democrat trying to run on the fake Republican platform.

Hey, maybe Haslam will turn out to be the RINO candidate running on a progressive Democrat platform and make the same mistake many gun-totin' Bible-thumpin' Democrats have made, thus driving his base over to the other side?

Nah, probably not.

It's the craziest

It's the craziest gubernatorial campaign that I've seen in a while. Somebody needs to talk some sense into both of them.
