Watching the results come in . . .

--T.V. news doesn't seem to be covering them. They're broadcasting earlier program reruns. Had I known big media was going to ignore this crucial contest, I could have gotten KnoxViews to shell out for me to furnish live reporting from the field.

--The CNN website says polls closed at 1 a.m., but at 25 minutes later, they still haven't posted any results.

--I see that in Wisconsin, Obama captured 58% of the vote while McCain got 55%. It's curious that the T.V. news channels called the election for McCain at least 10 minutes before they called Obama's victory. Why the difference?

--Hmmm, the election results board at talkingpointsmemo.com says Hawaii is at 1:30 a.m., not 1:00 a.m. Does anyone know what is going on in Hawaii?

--According to DailyKos, there's a "huge turnout" so results may be slow coming in.

--Senator Daniel Inouye:

"It's historic," Inouye said.

"I stood in line for an hour an a half now," he said.

Inouye is supporting Hillary Clinton.

He added that he had never before seen this large a turn-out for a caucus in Hawaii.

"All I know is, whatever the outcome, it's democracy at work, and it makes me feel good."

And I thought my 20-minute primary wait was bad . . .

--Once upon a time I recall hearing a proposal that during the November election we close polls nationwide at the same time, regardless of timezones. Bad idea.

--Howard Fineman says Cindy McCain will be a force in this campaign. Funny, thus far Laura Bush seems like a relative loudmouth in comparison.

--Timezone math--what time is it in Hawaii?

--Unprepared:

Hawaii's Democratic Caucus happened the way many feared. Record turnouts and voter excitement meant long lines, even longer waits, and a shortage of ballots. All that has meant delays for the results.

--High temperature range in the above TV station website's 7-day forecast: 79F-82F. Weather guy complains it might get a little "muggy." Mercy.

--Carl Bernstein's brilliant take on the evening:

Whereas the real speech is McCain's tonight.

He laid down what his campaign is going to be, and if the Democrats -- and presuming it's going to be Obama, which I think he's presuming -- have got to come up with a national security rationale that is tough, that really puts Iraq in context and makes it separate from Afghanistan and says, "Look, we're going to fight terrorism. Here's how we're going to do it."

But he's laid down a line that Obama especially, but also Hillary, if she's the nominee, is going to have to answer. His speech, to me, was the most important of the night.

If the GOP has that unstoppable force known as Cindy McCain present this speech, the Democrats might as well concede the election!

--Still haven't seen any of the networks call the election.

--Oy:

**Look for results of the Presidential Preference Poll on this page later tonight. We'll have them posted as soon as we can, but probably no earlier than 9:30 p.m. due to the heavy turnout.**

I don't know what 9:30 p.m. = in Eastern Time, but it's too late for me. Alas, I fail as a live blogger and am going to bed.
