Firefox 3.0 just became available today. It's faster to start and looks great. According to Mozilla, it's safer and more stable too.

They are hoping to break a record for the most downloads in a day so I expected a slow process, but I got mine pretty fast.

If you're prone to use Firefox, get you one. They got plenty of 'em and they're free.

Two downloads for me. Will I be a part of history? The suspense is killing me.

I installed it, and it left my old bookmarks, but now when I bookmark something new, it does not let me put it in a folder like I use too. The new 3.0 seems to load a lot quicker than the old 2.4 and there is less hangups too. So far I am happy with it.

It doesnt wipe your bookmarks. To bookmark something double click the star in the search bar and it should give you an option to place it in a folder. I went into the alt.config screen and turned off the auto search "thing". The new search bar sucks arse-who the hell wants to see every bookmark or web page you have visited pop up when you start typing? uggh. Link on how to turn it off if you are interested.

You can still drag the 'favicon' from the address bar into the desired bookmark folder if you have your bookmarks displayed on the left side of the screen. If you click the 'Bookmark' star in the address field, the title of the page you are viewing will appear in the 'Unsorted Bookmarks' folder of those bookmarks on the left. You can then drag it anywhere you like.

Over Seven Million Served

This then from The Register.co.uk:

Mozilla will make the record books for the most software downloaded in 24 hours, seeing as there’s no Guinness World Record to beat.

It seems that the Mozilla Foundation's servers went . . uh . . belly-up but they still served over seven million.
