Please tell me this is conservative propaganda!

I was emailed this and hope it is nothing more than a load of garbage.

If it is bull, and hope that it is, then I am in a dilemma. Even if it turns out to be true I feel we are not hearing the full story. I have faith in Obama and feel this is nothing more than right wing propaganda but it leaves me with this situation, do I block or not block my brother's email's. He is obviously a lost individual who just doesn't seem to get it.

Now the question is how do we fight the right wing propaganda machine. Using the internets they are able to spread false statements as fast as the speed of light and there doesn't seem to be a way to combat it? The poor lost souls who are uninformed, fall into this trap and believe every word of every email that is sent to them. I personally try to research the contents of these emails by Googling it so I can have ammunition to put down these myths in my replies, but it seems that it is getting harder to get to the truth because of the pages upon pages of the same repeated propaganda.

In this society it's beginning to feel that truth is succumbing to lies?

There are so many obvious things wrong with this statement that I don't know where to start.

He's my brother, who I would do anything for, as he would for me. We talk regularly and are close as you can be, but this is politics and he is purposely doing this to get my goat, so yes I would block his email address, and I would tell him why, but you have to realize there is a touch of humor going on with this, but you should also know I still feel the seriousness of this email campaign is a major problem, and it is something that I have yet see a Democrat do.

Anony, Let me add one more point. Do you like to be lied to? I hope not but basically that is what the people who are sending these emails are doing, they are lying to us. If left unchecked, these lies can swing a campaign. This has nothing to do with disagreement over politics, and has everything to do with dismantling the truth.

Don't block the email addresses of people that forward you this crap. Just do like I do and send a reply-to-all with the Snopes link. Embarrassing wingers to their entire email list is pretty fun.

Obama and the internet

I am seeing an increasing number of questions being raised about whether, or not Obama is constitutionally eligible to be President due to uncertainty about where he was really born. It is not enough to be born to a U.S. citizen. Where you were actually born can cause you not to be eligible to be President. John McCain was forced by the Bushies in 2000 to prove he was eligible since he was actually born in the Panama Canal Zone, but on a U.S. Naval base. In 2007, McCain again offered proof that he did indeed met the constitutional requirements to be President. Obama needs to do the same and not allow this issue to fester like Kerry did with the swift boat accusations. It is taking on a life of its own like rumors do. Obama is making it look like he has something to hide. It is silly to let this drag on. The birth certificate posted on the on Kos and Obama sites is not adequate proof. Many are saying it is a forgery. The Republicans are already investigating this and will take him to court if necessary, but not until he is officially nominated. We could end up in Sept. or Oct. in a mess if the "Repugs" take him to court state by state, or the US Supreme Court. If one comma is wrong, the Democratic party could end up in late October with no Presidential candidate. McCain would win all the electoral votes by default. Obama's campaign and the Democratic Party need to hire someone independent of both to certify to the public that he is indeed eligible.

Searches for other newsroom categories (reporters, correspondents, news editors, anchors, newspaper editors and publishers) produces 311 donors to Democrats to 30 donors to Republicans, a ratio of just over 10-to-1. In terms of money, $279,266 went to Dems, $20,709 to Republicans, a 14-to-1 ratio...

Obama's birth certificate problems

The question is not was Hawaii a state when Obama was born. The Internet rumor is that he was actually born in Kenya, or Canada and was brought to Hawaii as a baby a few weeks old. The other rumor is that the birth certificate on his site and KOS is a forgery. Yes, he can and I am sure will have to PROVE he was born on U.S. soil. That is the Constitutional issue the Bushies forced John McCain to prove. Obama can possibly avoid ending in court by making all his documentation public immediately. If it goes to the Supreme Court the Democrats lose the election.

As for proving that his birth certificate is not a forgery, that would take some rather elaborate measures to be effective, which would probably backfire by making the charges seem more credible. Kind of like opening a speech with "I want to assure all of you that I am not a child-molester."
