It's only going to get
It's only going to get worse.
plenty
It's only going to get worse.
That's what conservatives do, take any problem and make it worse. We are running out of oil, and their solution is to run out faster. An asinine solution is a solution, at least; on most problems their primary contribution is merely denial.
They have ruined our economy and our reputation, weakened our democracy and pinned our military to two fruitless invasions. What else can they do but run an attack campaign hoping to make their opponent look as bad as they do? Even the cheap patriotism and militarism they normally lean on won't hold them up anymore, so all they can hope to do is drag the rest of us down to their level.
Republicans: If you haven't had enough stupidity and failure, they have more!
ah bull
That ad was nowhere near as crass as the one against Ford, and if Obama wants to spend his time courting Oprah and Europeans that's to his own demise.
James, Please tell me what
James,
Please tell me what exactly is the connection between Obama, Paris Hilton, and Britney?
and also
refusing to drill oil out of a barren mud pit. That'll make a few good ads for Barr I suppose.
McCain's best (only?)
McCain's best (only?) strategy for victory will be to drive up Obama's negatives.
Digby on the racial undertones we'll be seeing.
Brian A.
I'd rather be cycling.
Bravo!
I always knew McSame was a scum bag, but I really never realized that he was a stupid as he has proven to be in this campaign. Just plain ol' ordinary stupid.
Right now he's campaigning like Hillary did. Every thing he says just drives another nail into his coffin.
His camp would be wise to stop letting him campaign for himself. He'd have a better chance of winning if he never spoke or appeared in public.
Actual question Campbell
Actual question Campbell Brown asked to lead off a prime-time CNN show tonight:
I'm not sure I'll be able to handle watching TV news this fall.
Brian A.
I'd rather be cycling.
Campbell Brown
Campbell Brown is married to Dan Senor, who used to be the Bush administration spokesperson in Iraq. She's not very good at keeping her biases from showing.
Now Obama, don't let McCain
Now Obama, don't let McCain get your panties in a wad.
I guess if McCain is comparing Obama to Paris and Britney, we need not worry!
He aint wear'n any!
That ad was nowhere near as
Nice to see you admit where your side sets the bar.
"See, he deserves it!"
Huh? Is this a weird reference to McSame's flip flop? Maybe he became for it after he was against it after all the huge oil and gas lobbyists piled behind him:
And now Poor Cindy's become a liar.

Hah!
Bredesen Says “Call Me” Ad Helped Harold Ford, Jr.
Then there's this theory
Then there's this theory about the GOP's strategy. Money quote:
When going negative, you do
When going negative, you do two things: 1) Neutralize your opponent's strengths, and 2) emphasize his weaknesses.
In 2004, John Kerry had a strength, which was his decorated military service. Left alone, Bush's military record just couldn't compare well. That strength was neutralized so effectively, the act of "swift-boating" someone is now a permanent part of the political lexicon.
Kerry's weaknesses included his Cambridge fanciness, so we heard about expensive haircuts and saw pictures of Kerry out sailboarding. That didn't play well in middle America, and left a conceptual vacuum where some people actually felt that George W. Bush would be the guy who would be more likely to sit down and have a beer with you.
Obama's strengths include popularity, charisma, and the sense that he could inspire the country to be better. His greatest weakness is his relative inexperience. If the Republicans don't drive hard at those concepts, then they're not even trying to win.
