Spotty showers in the Karns
Spotty showers in the Karns area don't seem to be affecting the turnout - there is practically none. I went by to shoot a few pictures. The first boosters I encountered were the Republicans who started their spiel. I told them I had voted last week and was just there to make a few pictures to put up on KnoxViews.
They all said "Oh" practically in unison. It's nice to know you are loved everywhere, Randy.
Then I went to hang out for a while with the Bryant/Nicodemus group.
Kathy is in good spirits in spite of the rain.
Bill Dunn came by to chat just before the rains came. He said he had an umbrella in the car but hesitated to use it, some might think it was a parasol.
We also had a nice visit with this handsome young man campaigning for his dad. Ryan is making excellent use of what used to be a golf club.

Turnout is very low over here in Blount Co., too, and it isn't even raining.

then headed back out.
Turnout
I voted Cedar Bluff just before noon. There were not many people voting there at the time.

I'd rather be cycling.

Some drama in Blount. It appears the GOP is pulling out all the stops on a local judge's race.

Predictions score: 13 for
Predictions score: 13 for 18, 72%
Let's see....
Rachel went 16 for 16. I went 18 for 20. I gave the Knox GOP enough credit to finally remove Campfield (I hear he and the Lump wear the same size clown shoe). I also figured the gravitas of Baer (USN Academy, 2 PHD's and all that) would outweigh the Duncan seal of approval in far west Knox. I missed on both of those guesses.
I was overcome by a little
I was overcome by a little audacity of hope and stuff. Except in the case of Graybeal, though. Better qualified v. Black Wednesday of the worst kind? That one's hard to figure out, but I didn't follow it that closely.
(All of my state primary picks were correct.)
I voted against my own expectations...
and probably hoped against hope that the low turnout wouldn't mean what it usually means given the uniqueness of the circumstances. But just as usual, low turnout meant a lot of straight party ticket voters. In this area, that never bodes well for candidates with a (D) or (I) after their name.
18 for 18
I was 18 for 18, although I was off on my percentages. Not bad for my first ever post!
I also like the vols to cover the spread in the opener!
