From Greg Mackay, Knox County Administrator of Elections:

This fall the City of Knoxville will hold a primary election for the First, Second, Third, Fourth, and Sixth District Council seats. Early Voting begins on September 2nd and ends on September 17th. Election day is September 22nd. These are district only elections. The top two vote-getters from each district will then run in the citywide general election on November 3rd.

Any qualified City voter can vote for the candidate of their choice in their district. However, please remember that voters in the Fifth District will NOT be eligible to vote in the September 22nd Primary Election because they elected their Council Member (Vice Mayor Bob Becker) to a four-year term just two years ago. The following precincts are located in the Fifth District:

16N – Larry Cox Recreation Center
17 – Christenberry Recreation Center
18 – Lincoln Park School
19 – Lonsdale: Soars Ministries Center
20 – Beaumont School
37 – Inskip Elementary
38 – Inskip Elementary
39 – Inskip Recreation Center

In the Citywide General Election on November 3rd, ALL qualified City voters, including voters in the Fifth District, will be eligible to vote for a Council member from each of the district races.
