And after some time off she's fired up and ready to go:
So, way to miss out on the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, Democrats. But truth to be told, it's probably not such a big deal, since your guys were just as involved in the nepotism and backroom deal-making as were the Republicans. And just because you couldn't get it together to field a stronger slate of contenders for the countywide offices doesn’t mean there’s an unusual amount of internal strife in your party. Sure, lots of y'all hate each other's guts, but you shouldn’t feel like the Lone Ranger – half the Republicans I know wouldn’t pee on Mike Ragsdale's head if his brain were on fire.
Meanwhile, Sandra Clark gloats "It was about my 100th Republican victory party, but this one was different."
And Larry Van Guilder weighs in: Knox County voters concocted their own cure for scandal fatigue last Thursday: stay home.

postmortem
Pretty much sums it up.The Democrats were broke so we bet the Courthouse on an anti-black wednesday 65/70k turn out.We lost the bet.
Sure there are factions in the Democratic Party as a result of the last 2 1/2 years.
The court rulings that put the ins vs the outs, then the ins were the outs & the outs were the ins.The write in against the nominee, the county primaries & couple of high profile defections in the Sheriffs race left hard feelings.Plus, four Democratic Party Chairs in 2 years aint helped.
This is the way I roll.
I believe in primaries you go with whoever you want but when the primary is over I support the nominee. Some say thats the easy way out.I beg to differ.
In the 2nd in '06 I supported Amy if Billy was not the nominee.Billy & Mark were the nominees. So I was for Billy over Amy & Mark over David even though Mark was for Amy over Billy. In '08 I supported Courtney over Amy in the primary.Amy won..so I was for Amy in the general.
In the 1st in '06 I supported Jordan if she was the nominee & voted for Lewis Logan in the rump caucus to nominate her replacement. The Party Chair said it didnt count.Never mind Jordan was the nominee. The party chair then quit.
Same song different verse in the 4th.
Fact is as often as not when I went to Democratic campaign events I was the odd man out.Nobody was mean to me but for the last 2 1/2 years I always had too listen close to figure out which asshole I was/had/did support that they hated.
But in the end it works. The folks I have supported will & are making Knox County better.Mark has done the right thing on commission.Cortney has a bright future as a voice for progress.Elaine has shown skill as a commissioner.Amy & Finbarr will do great things in the next 2 years.Sam is as good as it gets....TANK!!
Finally,Randy Nichols.
When he endorsed JJ I was like the 10 year old boy who stubbed his toe.I was too old to cry but it hurt too much too laugh.
Did I want Nichols to get behind Tyree..YES.
Do I question his motives..NO.
Was I disappointed..YES.Am I mad..NO.
Randy Nichols is a good man.We were friends before this race & still are.I will support him if he runs for reelection...period.
Well I here I go again..you mean you support that turn coat asshole?
Yep..'cause a bunch of those assholes I support end up sitting in seats of power.
Maybe thats why I roll the way I do!!

s. clark: "Jones, Sisk,
s. clark: "Jones, Sisk, Witt, Ballard, McGee and Arnett really are a new generation of GOP leadership. Here’s hoping they get it right."
new generation, my patooty. Didn't realize Sandra was writing satire now. she really has drunk the koolaid.
Why did LVG do what he did?
here is the motive. Link (link...)
Sigh.
Brian, Brian, Brian.
For the record, and I'm sure Mr. Hunley will confirm this, I've never applied for the editor's position (or any other position) with the Focus.
It's also worth noting that neither I nor Sandra Clark are "hourly employees" of E.W. Scripps. Would that it were so. If we were collecting overtime pay we could have purchased an island in the neighborhood of Lumpy's tropical paradise long before now where we could enjoy your antics from a safe distance.
Larry Van Guilder
Hey, Hornback, nice attempt
Hey, Hornback, nice attempt to drive up your numbers. Too bad you couldn't even get LVG's name right.
Larry didn't write a thing about Hunley's intentions. He wrote about Ragsdale's intentions (or wishes).
The Focus was founded to put the Shopper out of business after Sandra Clark successfully opposed Hunley's re-election to the school board, and has been a reliable PR organ for Ragsdale ever since -- so why wouldn't MRR want Hunley on Commission? Word's been out for some time that Hunley doesn't want the appointment, but you can bet he knows somebody who does.
Your insinuation that Larry applied for the job of Focus editor is laughable, too. as is "Green Hornet" Hancock's comment re Bill Phillips.
Betty
I don't think its Ragsdale's head that is on fire.
Hunley's efforts obviously worked
Sandra had to sell to the Sentinel.
You should "have to" sell your silly blog for what SC made
Sandra's check has so many zeros on it, she's set for life, plus she's being paid very well to do what she wants, how she wants it, and no longer has as many hats to wear in running the Shopper.
Her attorney (Rob Frost) worked a great deal for her, getting Scripps to give her what she wanted.
She got paid more than when Scripps bought out Metropulse -- much more.
if Anon were dealing in facts
which "it" ain't. The facts are that if she profited as anon says than she wouldn't be chasing stories and managing reporters as she does now.
Ask SC about the day that four suits that walked in her office just prior to her "selling" the paper.
Silly anon II -- Clark
Silly anon II -- Clark chases stories because she loves doing it.
And, btw, I just followed your instruction and asked her about the "four suits"-- she doesn't know what you're talking about. So you can file this one where you put your allegation that LVG applied for a job at the out of focus.
Can't we all just get along
All this flame throwning and name-calling. Why the petty allegations that can never be proven? Most of this stuff will come out in the wash.
