Anyone know about Green Hills Grill in Western Plaza, I went by there this afternoon and the doors were locked . . . .
Green Hills has been closed
Green Hills has been closed for a few months. I've tried to support every restaurant in that location, but each one changes their menu too often in my opinion.
Close by on Sutherland Ave is the Holly Lands Market which recently opened a kitchen. I had a Philly Cheese Steak which was great.

Thanks for the info . . . . a reminder that we need to renew efforts to support local restaurants (TN) as inflation rises . . . . . . Sutherland Ave, Sunspot, T'Head, SoHo/Tai, Falahal Hut, Ruby Tuesday (yikes!), Ali Babba, Nama, La Costa, Cantinellas, Red Onion, etc. and etc . . . .
Catinella's is closed, too
The bad news is Catinella's is closed already. The good news is that a really good barbeque joint is moving in there. M&M's Catering, which used to be in a shack next to the laundromat on Middlebrook, should have moved in last week. I don't know if they are going to have much in the way of table service in the new place, but they used to run a line across the parking lot in the old location for strictly take-out.
M&M... Barbecue Heaven
It's genuine East Knoxville barbecue only minutes from where I work. You can even get mixed sauce on your pefectly smoked pork. I believe the good folks at M&M are direct culinary decendants of the legendary Brother Jack. Almost makes up for the tragic loss of Spooky's from its Northshore location.
Bridgeview
That place was terrible. We actually tried it twice (shame on me). I didn't realize Aramark managed it, but that explains a lot. They served the kind of food that made you stop and think, "How exactly did they manage to extract all possible flavor from this dish which sounded so delicious in the description on the menu?" The space up there has sure has potential though.

to the Tennessee Grill, although I thought it was pricey.
Honestly, the location is crap .. until someone gets some sense and removes Neyland Drive in its entirety that side of the river is a hard sell.
Cantinella's
Great to hear about M&M's . . . . Cantinella's has reopened in Sequoyah Village (1 minute off Kingston Pike). It's a small place . . . come on by to support them.

When I came to the front page of KnoxViews tonight I noticed the ads Google had put at the top of the page. I think they are supposed to put ads they believe are relevent to the sight. One ads headlines read,

M&M bbq...
may be some of the best bbq i've ever had and that's in comparison with memphis and NC bbq. However, the best brisket still lies in TX. If Cantinella's has move to Sequoyah, check out Kimo's Ohana Cafe as well over there....great spot!
It always seemed to me that
It always seemed to me that Bridgeview, in its original incarnation (I forget the name -- maybe the Tennessee Grill?), was conceived by our former mayor as part of his longstanding grudge against Mike Chase. As part of the city's waterfront project, Calhouns found itself bookended by restaurants that received some form of city subsidies to open. Bridgeview (I forget what its original name was) always seemed like a bad idea, with its across-the-street parking.
Both these restaurants have had a hard time making it, while Calhouns soldiers on.
I'm looking forward to the
I'm looking forward to the day when we do something about Neyland Drive -- the most monumental waste of great real estate in Knoxville.
Sooner than later, we're going to convert that entire 2+ mile stretch of roadway into 2+ mile linear, waterfront park with commercial and residential components. By increasing the tax base, improving recreational and public access, and better integrating campus and downtown, the Neyland Drive corridor will be the crown-jewel of our city.
Our ridges and waterways define us. The Neyland Drive corridor has both. Knoxville's greatest opportunity is right in front of us.

I realize the under street walk is for western section of parking lot but seems some modification could have been done to avoid the traffic light placement there.

Moving out the KUB sewage
Moving out the KUB sewage tank farm and treatment plant won't be easy, and probably the cement companies will be hard to move, too (see holston gases on the south bank).
There's also a new coffee
There's also a new coffee place in the same Sequoyah shopping center as Catinella'a: Blackbird Coffeehouse. Haven't actually tried the coffee yet, but I stopped by and talked with the owners. Super nice folks.

Not the greatest hours (they close at 6 on weekdays, 4 on Saturday, and 2 on Sunday), and that's a black hole of a location, but hopefully this will work out for them (and me, since it's about a 3 minute walk away).

Does the whole catinella family still work there? Why can I not find anything for them online or in the phone book? Are they even still in business?
