KCDP participated in an event on Saturday, Karns Day. They have a parade and then have a fair with booths and such afterwards. Several people stopped by as we were decorating our float and thanked us for being there. Then at the fair, we had numerous sign ups and many folks stopping by to show their support. I had a great conversation with a man who has been out of work for almost a year, he was with his wife and two young kids and wanted every Democratic yard sign we had! He considered himself an independent but he said the last 7 weeks watching CSPAN had convinced him that the republicans had no concern for him and he would be voting Democratic all the way. The way he saw it, the Democrats were the ones helping him feed his family. This was typical of several conversations that day, not exactly what I expected in Karns, but what a great day.

The Tea Party was there with their endorsements of Ramsey, Campfield, and Ownby and a lone runner in the parade wearing shorts, knox tea party shirt, white socks and dress shoes and carrying a sign about how high his taxes are. I was kind of impressed that he was running in 100 degree weather and in dress shoes...well sort of.
