Here's the latest Knox County Democratic Party financial disclosure amended for the 2nd quarter. It shows a total of $47,950 in expenditures related to the Truman Day Dinner, featuring James Carville.
The receipts aren't itemized to indicate if they were related to the dinner, but total $53,498 including all donations and deposits.
The total expenditures were $54,336. Beginning cash on hand was $14,783 and the ending cash on hand was $13,945.
It sounds like maybe the Truman Day Dinner was a wash in terms of fundraising, but it's hard to tell. At any rate, it's hard to put a price tag on free publicity and brand awareness.
At least we had a good time and scored a cool interview.

I had a great time
It's a tie between Carville & Gore as the best Truman Day Speech ever!I agree as long as the Truman Day doesnt lose money & all us Democrats get together & whoop it up..it's all good.
While having a good time is great....
I agree that getting all the East TN Democrats together is great fun, but the problem with Truman Day being a wash, is Truman Day is the Democratic Party's major fundraiser. I have been helping out with local campaigns and the Party's lack of money has left them with few resources to help out local Democratic candidates.
Ditto.
Ditto.
From what I have heard, the
From what I have heard, the Truman Day dinner has not been a major "fund raiser" for years and has lost money several years. When has it actually raised much in the way of funds?
Not sure about that
The Truman Day dinner has raised funds in the past.If you believe I'm wrong bizzy get in touch with past chairs & ask them. But I'm pretty sure Truman Day has raised money in the past.
