Folks reading this probably already know this, or have already voted. But you may want to let family and friends know about the sample ballot and the two charter amendments that are on the ballot.
Studying and/or printing out the ballot and marking it ahead of time will save time in the voting booth and help keep things moving along at the polls. Also, if you have your voter registration card it will speed up the sign in process. If not, ID showing your signature is acceptable. Otherwise you will have to sign an affidavit.
Because this is a state primary and county general election, you must request a Democratic primary ballot, a Republican primary ballot, or a county general election only ballot. The sample ballot has all candidates and questions, but what is on your actual ballot is determined by which primary you choose, your Tennessee House and Senate districts, and your County Commission district. (U.S. House 2nd District candidates will be on their respective party primary ballots.)
All ballots will have the county-wide candidates for local races and the two proposed charter amendment questions, which are lengthy. It is recommended that you read and understand the proposed charter amendments before going to the polls.
Use this link to find your voting precinct location and district information. Voting hours are 8AM to 8PM.

NOTE: The last screen/page of your E-slate ballot will list all your selections. Review this carefully before pushing the "cast ballot" button. If you need help, or if you don't think you have the right ballot, or there is some other problem, stop, do not proceed, and ask a poll worker for assistance.

26 & 27
I have heard Dogwood School (26th ward) is still under construction. We are still going to vote there, and school starts Monday.
But be careful.
Moore Road is closed. This leads to the 27th ward, South Knoxville Optimists Club. Follow the detour and the "Vote Here" signs, or take an alternate route.
Also, 8 to 8 are the hours in Knox County. If you are in an outlying county check with your local election commission to find the hours for your county.
Schools having Inservice day
The schools may be busy and parking lots full because it is an inservice day.
From the School District webpage:
August 7 (Thursday) In-School Inservice Day
This always seems to happen for the August elections. When I worked the polling site at Belle Morris Elem in the past, we found ourselves directing traffic to the few available parking spots. Let us hope that voter turnout will be brisk anyway.
Thanks, Greg. We vote at
Thanks, Greg. We vote at Dogwood, so this is helpful info.
