Well played.

Sen. Haslam?
THIS IS THE CHANCE
(in reply to R. Neal)
THAT STACEY CAMPFIELD HAS BEEN AWAITING.
You think he’ll run through
(in reply to Andy Axel)
You think he’ll run through every county wearing a Luchador mask to gain support?
maybe
(in reply to R. Neal)
Haslam or Briggs. Corker to Governor. When you have billions, you can have every Republican running for you and you can't lose. Boyd or Corker, the dark side wins.
Most likely. I heard Marsha
(in reply to R. Neal)
Most likely. I heard Marsha Blackburn may run also. I'd walk over ground glass to keep her out of the Senate.
TNGOP is already spinning...
TNGOP is already spinning...
"Today Senator Bob Corker announced his plans to retire in 2018 and within minutes the liberal media began tweeting about Tennessee being a "pick-up" opportunity for Senate Democrats.
LET THE LIBERALS KNOW TENNESSEE WON'T FLIP IN 2018. DONATE $25, $50, $100, OR MORE TODAY!
Sadly, this is what Republicans have to fight against every election year; liberal media bias and outside money trying to influence elections. Democrats already have one candidate who has raised $500,000 with thousands of dollars coming from OUTSIDE of Tennessee.
TELL CHUCK SCHUMER HE WON'T FIND A DEMOCRATIC SENATE SEAT IN TENNESSEE NEXT YEAR. DONATE $25, $50, $100, OR MORE TODAY!"
UT President Corker?
UT President Corker?
Isn't that Bill Haslam's next

Isn't that Bill Haslam's next job?
Mr. Outsourcing So governor,

Mr. Outsourcing
So governor, senate, ut president, Duncan's rep seat
Anything else in the mix?
There is a simmering debate
(in reply to jbr)
There is a simmering debate in academia as to whether or not a person without an academic doctorate can sign ("confer") diplomas. How can Margaret Spellings (UNC's very lightly educated president), for example, confer a doctorate upon a candidate if she is not possessed of a doctorate herself, or even if she can confer a BS on a student when she is possessed of a BA. The whole construct overturns 1000 years Western higher education history.
Congratulations on posting
(in reply to Metulj From the Lurkzone)
Congratulations on posting in understandable, non-cryptic prose. I understood everything you said, which means you actually made a contribution to the discussion this time.
Understand?
(in reply to (Anonymous))
When has Metuji ever been obtuse about his points? Disagreeable perhaps, but never indirect. He takes pride in being informed and gives credit to his audience for a relatively high degree of intelligence. We have a saying here usually reserved for athletics, but applicable to academia, "If ya can't run with the big dogs, stay under the porch."
I Don't Suppose....
...that Cas Walker left any descendants who might now be of a suitable age?
Damn I would have bet good
Damn I would have bet good money that Corker would not quit. Oh well, now you know why my gambling is extremely limited.
Little Bob was polling about 30 percent favorable
(in reply to cafkia)
on their inside polling data and there wasn't anything happening within the next 9 months that was going to change that approval rating here in the State of Tennessee. bob had his chances to make a mark and make a historical entry in the line up of Senators from Tennessee, however, he did forget where he came from and he did not represent the positions advocated by the citizenry of Tennessee that put him there in the first place.
I could see Corker resigning after the Christmas Holiday and letting Billy Haslam appoint himself to the unexpired term and then running as an incumbent in November 2018, Haslam's positives are slightly north of Corker's but not a great deal further north.
Just bet the line against UT
(in reply to cafkia)
Just bet the line against UT every game and you'll do fine.

Heh. Pretty good. Poco,
(in reply to R. Neal)
Heh.
Pretty good.
Poco, Anyway Bye Bye lyrics
Not a coincidence - Corker "retired" the same day
Roy Moore, a hard right christian dominionist, won a special election after he was backed by Bannon against Luther Strange. Corker positions himself as a centrist demonstrating requisite "competence or stability" and launches a 2020 primary of Trump. Meanwhile some folks are urging someone named Manning to get back in the game.
Bannon
(in reply to Mike Knapp)
Corker did not want to take on Bannon and his minions. Tea Party II looks to be a rougher bunch.
latest
Corker to be Tennessee Gov., Bill Haslam to replace Corker.
I don't really see the Teabillies
(in reply to Herb)
tolerating Haslam's middling do-nothing approach for long, but they've sustained him in the governor's office for a spell.
Both
(in reply to Herb)
Would be poor choices for the respective offices.
Haslam and Corker
(in reply to fischbobber)
Haslam is Corker 3.0 with more jokes and less elevator shoes. Corker never thought up the stuff he claimed. None of them do. They have staff.
Haslam considering
Haslam considering it...
