Pelosi's kung-fu is weak.

Can't we all just get a long gun?
Yes, her unanimous
Yes, her unanimous appointment as Speaker was embarrassing. Heh.
Actually, I think this majority leader squabble was kind of nice. Pelosi thinks Murtha sent a message that helped the Dems win and wanted to reward him. Others had other ideas. They threw it out there for discussion and a vote. Hoyer won, they all stood on the stage together to shake hands and move on to start solving America's problems. No big deal.
Could be. Or it could be
Could be. Or it could be the 'new' challenging the 'old'. Still, she didn't get all Newt Gingrich with it.
Or, you know, maybe it's 'cause Pelosi's a girl.

encouraging
I find this to be an encouraging development. I do not want the dems to be just like the criminals they are replacing. This lets me and the rest of the world know that there will be none of that lockstep lemming-like behavior of the lamely quacking majority party. It lets Pelosi know that she can't be petty and trivial. I think this is good for the party and will help make for good government. YMMV

I'm guessing there was some
I'm guessing there was some Machiavellian purpose behind all this - "when he seizes a state the new ruler ought to determine all the injuries that he will need to inflict. He should inflict them once for all, and not have to renew them every day." Pelosi owed Murtha a chit, and now he has no standing to bitch.
I sure as hell hope so. I'm not cut out for inside baseball. Mongo just pawn in game of life.
