Isn't this great! Yet another story about how wonderful and open-minded we are here in Tennessee.

A good summary of Tennessee

A good summary of Tennessee politics?

WhitesCreek's picture

Part of it is just wrong,

Part of it is just wrong, though. Lincoln Davis didn't "declare through an aide" that Obama was a terrorist. The story of Fred Hobbs is bad enough without the distortions. The more I know about actual events the more I realize how wrong people get things...Even the ones I want to trust.

The guy used Fox News as his source, so I guess it figures.

And I guess there's no way to adequately point out what a "distortion" the other Hobbs is. He may be the "designated crazy" for the Republicans this year. He may be the guy who is supposed to make stuff up, no matter how outrageous, so others can bloviate about it.

Designated Crazy for the Reblicans........

Hey Whites, who's the crazy one here? What the TN GOP is saying is either without question true (Michelle really did make that statement, Obama really did dress up in the Muslim garb, Barrack's middle name really is "Hussein") or at least reasonable people could debate the fact that he may be anti-Israel and he has had some strange associations in Chicago.

On the other hand, it really was a democrat (Fred or was it Roy Hobbs?) who made the statement about Obama possibly being linked to terrorism. Is this the kind of stuff the republican Hobbs is supposed to make up so others can bloviate about it? It certainly would have been an outrageous thing for a republican to say if only the democrats hadn't sent their guy out to say it first..........

I'm close minded I guess but I'm waiting for the R-word to come out soon.....if you're not for Obama, by definition, you are a racist.........

talidapali's picture

Hate to burst your little bubble...

But that "Muslim" garb is ACTUALLY traditional Somali tribal dress. They were wearing it LONG before Muslims came to Africa. It is AFRICAN garb...

And Michelle said for the first time in her adult life she was REALLY proud of her country...not that she had never been proud of her country before but REALLY (SUPER) proud now since we seemed to have moved past the days when NO black person could have thought about running for the highest office in the land. You gotta admit there have been some pretty dismal things this country has done (Trail of Tears...anyone? Anyone?), and it's hard to be proud of ourselves when we sink to the levels that the Tennessee GOP has lately (or steal pills from sick people that depend on our charity for their medicine).

And since when did we start berating people for the names their parents gave them? Would it be better if he stood up, stomped his feet, and rolled around on the ground screaming in a temper tantrum and screamed, "I HATE my name! I wish my parents had never named me that!", or would you guys start teasing him for being a big baby about not liking the family name his parents gave him? Just because he carries a name that was given to him that he had no choice in, should he now deny his father and refuse his name, all to please a few small-minded bigots? I personally think the name George is pretty damn silly. Maybe GWB should change his name since he has such a silly name... it's so 18th century.

Honestly, the Tennessee GOP sounds and acts like a bunch of bullying fourth graders. (Sorry, fourth graders everywhere...)

As far as the Dems guy that said the "terrorist ties" thing...he should know better and if he doesn't then he is NO Democrat. On his way out the door, "don't let it hit ya where the good Lord split ya!"

Hobbs

This stuff actually happened two weeks ago. Tennesseans are bad enough, but uppity writers from NY or Calif jump on redneck stuff to prove their biases. You rarely hear in the national press that Tn. actually has a D gov from NY.

Tn. actually has a D gov from NY.

And a D majority in our delegation to the U.S. House of Representatives. And a D majority in our State House of Representatives.

I don't know-

But, part of it seems to be Obama's army attacking viciously when he is not welcomed with open arms. If people aren't on his bandwagon, calling them racist doesn't seem to be the way to sway them to get on it.

The (R)hetoric is

The (R)hetoric is interesting to observe this election cycle.

Did anyone else note the opinion piece in KNS yesterday, where the conservative was saying Obama played the race card because he said republicans were going to play the race card?

And then he closed his we're not playing the race card Obama is playing the race card and your choices in this election are "Black and White."

Then there's that "open arms and empty heads" thing. Noise like that is just conservatives saying, "We got nothing, but we're all-in anyway."

Up Goose Creek's picture

Black & white

Well if we'd wanted a black and white election we should nominate someone darker than Obama. But it's true that humans don't come much more pasty white than John McCain.

If I make a comment about McCain seeming tired and unfocused will I be accused of ageism?

hogwash

There are no racists in TN!

And there are no KKK members!

And no one in TN displays the KKK/rebel flag with the message "It ain't hate, it's heritage."

Naaa! It's elitist Hussein and his uppity mama that's racist.

One of my neighbors asked me

One of my neighbors asked me what I thought of Obama and then he presented me with an email he had received with all the usual crap we have already seen.

When I told him that BS was typical of Karl Rove's bunch, he asked me who that was. I couldn't believe it. Who has voted in the last several years without knowing about Karl Rove?

I told him about McCain's 2000 adventure in South Carolina and how good old John is now in bed with the bastard.

I don't think I won a convert though because Obama is still black and "If he's elected Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton will take over."

Therein lies the rub in Tennessee.

The rub in Tennessee

Redmondo, I guess we can't all be as smart and open minded as you. Your neighbor won't vote for Obama because he's black. How bigoted!

"Therein lies the rub in Tennessee." When I first read this, I swear it seemed as though you were basically saying that anyone in Tennessee who won't vote for Obama (maybe 55% - 60% of us) are all just like your neighbor....we're bigots. That there's no way anyone in the great State of Tennessee could possibly vote against Obama for any other reason except for the fact that he is black.

Then I looked back and noted how you referred to W as a bastard and the stuff about the "Karl Rove bunch" and I knew you were much too smart and open minded to do that........

Seeing that our fine state is close to bottom in education, it's hardly surprising how the majority votes, is it?

What does that have to with Obama and Tennessee? ;>)

Bigots

I interpreted KRs remark to imply there are enough bigots in TN to tip the state away from Obama. Not that every McCain voter is a bigot.
