Georgiana Vines (I thought she retired?) has the latest development in the South Knox county commission race. It seems a certain Republican candidate in the 9th district owes some back taxes. Actually, a lot of back taxes. (Registration required.)
Sandra Clark has a glowing tribute to now term-limited County Commissioner Mary Lou Horner, who suspended her campaign last Friday. Quote: "Well, at least it took the state Supreme Court to beat Mary Lou."
And Michael Silence reports on the fallout expected from the recent court ruling that Knox County is illegal.
Early Voting starts Wednesday...
P.S. The Knoxville News Sentinel published their Knox County Voter Guide in Sunday's paper. The online version is available here. Not to be too harsh re. our blog pal Michael Silence who worked on it, but "favorite movie?" "Favorite TV show?" What's up with that? Also, candidates who are term limited are noted in a sidebar, but there is no indication on the individual profiles of candidates still on the ballot who are no longer eligible for for office.

Where I'm comming from
I want to give ya'll an idea of where I'm comming from:1.Diane Jordan is the incumbent district 1-A County Commissioner.2.If Commissioner Jordan wins the County Commission district 1-A Democratic Primary, with everything I understand today,Commissioner Jordan would not be certified,by the state, per the court ruling,to be placed on the ballot,as the County Commission Distric 1-A Democratic nominee, for the county general election.3.Then the Democratic Executive Committe, per state law, would vote on the "method" in which a replacement Democratic nominee would be selected.4.In County Commission District 1-A,there are potentially 14 members of the committee, only 5 are serving now.I don't know how five folks can reflect the will of the 1st district.5.Some have said that it's hard to tell who is & ain't a Democrat. It's easy in the 1st district...We're ALL Democrats....How do I know?...Look at the votes...In these 1st district wards(6,9,12,13,14-E,14-M,15,19-M,30),on election day 2004,Kerry got 3,000..Bush got 600...Come to the Democrat meeting:6:30, April 20th,Labor Temple
I looked at the KNS
I looked at the KNS “Voter Guide” yesterday. My Gawd! A County Commissioner candidate who lists his favorite song as Rocky Top played by the Pride of the Southland Band! Are all master plumbers so erudite or is he pandering to the electorate?
At least the term-limited incumbent chose The Fishing Hole.
I despair!

Kiger might owe $100,000 in
Kiger might owe $100,000 in back taxes, but Paul Pinkston cost the county at least twice that amount when he killed the South High renovation proposal. Worse still, Pinkston thought he was being fiscally responsible because in his tiny brain a negative number with five zeroes in it is larger than a positive number with two zeroes. Pinkston needs to be kept away from shiny objects and positions of responsibility.
