New COVID-19 wave, vaccine available soon

A new wave of COVID-19 is sweeping the country, with cases on the rise in nearly every state.

As of Aug. 19, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that COVID infections are growing or likely growing in 48 states and declining in zero states.

On Aug. 28, the FDA approved the monovalent 2026-2027 COVID vaccines from Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech, and Novavax-Sanofi, the Associated Press reported.

“The new shots will cover what’s anticipated to be circulating this fall and winter,” says Schaffner.

The new COVID shots are expected to be rolled out at pharmacies, clinics and hospitals in September, experts say.

We use Walgreens as well.
