Just announced: Knox Co. Commission Chair Scott Moore has called a special County Commission meeting on January 31st for the appointments to take place. No mention of public hearings or a forum for the people to learn about the potential new commissioners.
Word also has it that special deference will be given to the departing eight commissioners with them making the first (and possible only!!) nominations on their replacements. AND, many commissioners not only feel this is good, but will vote for who the term-limited ones nominate!
So much for democracy and representative government. It is government for the cronies, by the cronies.

Heh. I see we cross posted
Heh. I see we cross posted at the same time. See the link to Gene Patterson above. He says the Sheriff is engineering this because he has his guys picked out and wants to get a jump on Ragsdale. Lumpy is A-OK with it. (Who died and put him in charge, anyway?)
I'll take the first soft pitch on this
The spirit of a responsible government by the people.
I'll leave it to others to make it more catchy.
Anybody who expected better
Anybody who expected better out of this bunch was fooling themselves. (See Frank Cagle's column in this week's MP.)
This week's Cagle
I loved this paragraph from Cagle's article (which is an open letter to local politicos):
--Socialist With A Gold Card
"I'm a socialist with a gold card. I firmly believe we need a revolution; I'm just concerned that I won't be able to get good moisturizer afterwards." -- Brett Butler
